Wearing or Carrying Your Cross?
|Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
(Matthew 6:24 NIV)
Same-sex attraction. It is a cross to carry. To carry and overcome the temptation of same-sex attraction. To carry and give up a gay sexual identity to pursue a life submitted to Christ. It is worth it, it is not impossible as God gives grace over temptation and heals the broken self-identity.
I cannot say what God has in the future for anyone, other than he is faithful when we step out in faith ourselves. He provided me what I needed at the right times during my journey in and out of a gay identity.
God sent a ‘Simon of Cyrene’ in my life, a couple of brothers who came along side me and helped me pick up the cross when I was stumbling to get to my Calvary. They discipled me. Now having been crucified with Christ, now resurrected as a new creation, with my wife beside me, I will carry this cross confidently and unashamed of who it is for. It is for the glory of Jesus.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NIV)
